TVS flooring transforms Canterbury Sports Centre

TVS Group, a sports flooring company specialising in physical activity spaces, has completed a major flooring installation project at the Cantebury Sports Centre at the University of Kent.

Tasked with replacing the flooring throughout the centre, as well as the concrete sub-base which was no longer fit for purpose, the company installed new flooring in the fitness and free-weights areas as well as an elastic-layered sprint track.

To create a safe and stable environment for free weight lifting, the company reinforced the concrete sub-base and installed heavy-duty rubber SPORTEC Style tiles, which are designed to protect the concrete, as well as absorb shock and prevent damage from the impact of dropped weights.

A cushioned flooring system, made from recycled rubber, was laid in the fitness area, while in the wellness area a shock-absorbing, dual layered flooring system and an elastic-layered sprint track, designed to prevent injury, was installed.

Lee Thompson, facilities manager at the University of Kent, said: "The floor looks great, it's fantastic quality and has transformed our gym space overnight."

"The TVS team did a thoroughly professional job and were really flexible to meet our needs. As a result, we were well ahead of the schedule and our customers are now enjoying the new look gym," he added.
